The New York State Great Appliance Swap Out

SM energystarGeneric 300x109 The New York State Great Appliance Swap OutFellow New Yorkers! Today marks the start of the New York state energy-efficient appliance rebate program, The New York State Great Appliance Swap Out (affectionately known as “Cash For Appliances”). The program provides New York State-based rebates for those who recycle their old appliances and welcome new Energy Star-certified devices in their homes.

Owning energy-efficient appliances come with a lot of benefits. For one, you’ll save a ton on your yearly energy costs and significantly reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. You’re doing yourself and the environment some good, all while going about your business in your kitchen or laundry room. Energy-efficient appliances also come with various tax and state/federal saving benefits, like this rebate program.

For New York, there are two options to the appliance swap out program:

  • Savings for those buying only one qualifying appliance: Energy Star refrigerators (excluding compact), Energy Star freezers and Energy Star clothes washers
  • Savings for those buying three qualifying appliances (high efficiency refrigerators, high efficiency washers, high efficiency dishwashers). One must purchase all three appliances to apply for this rebate. “High efficiency” means that not only is the product Energy Star, it is in a higher tier of energy efficiency. Think of them as super Energy Star appliances. These tiers are determined by the CEE – The Consortium of Energy Efficiency (a company similar to Energy Star).

Since we’re you’re appliance authority, we have a large selection of Energy Star and CEE-qualified appliances, which you can find at our dedicated energy saver page or from our appliance experts in the AJ Madison Showroom.
