Every once in a while, we unfortunately have to write about one or several appliance recalls. Said recalls usually involve either repair or replacement of a part, or repair of the product as a whole. Recalls are, after all, a normal part of any product ecosystem and, though slightly aggravating, can be processed in a relatively painless manner.
Fear not! Though we at AJ Madison have no hand in the recalls, and are therefore unable to process recall requests, we have any/all information pertaining to the GE, Electrolux and Frigidaire recalls right here for your reference:
- 122,000 Frigidaire and Electrolux ICON Smoothtop Electric Cooktops and Frigidaire Slide-in Ranges with rotary knobs and digital displays were recalled due to a possible fire hazard. To see if your product was recalled, find the SKU on your product. For ranges, check on the interior side of the oven door. Cooktops have their serial numbers underneath the unit, so make sure the unit is powered/ disconnected and carefully lift (be warned, the product is heavy) to find the serial number sticker underneath (located in various places as each model is unique. Visit http://www.smoothtoprangerecall.com for Frigidaire recalls and http://www.cooktoprecall.com for Electrolux recalls, or call (888) 281-5310 between Monday and Saturday from 8 AM until 10 PM ET. For more information on the recall, see this Consumerist article.
- A number of GE dishwashers were also issued a recall. Due to the wide range of serial numbers issued, visit this site to see if your serial number (located somewhere along the inside of the dishwasher door) is one of the models recalled. As an alternative, visit the official GE Recall site and see this handy Consumer Reports brief for further recall details. Note that only GE Profile dishwashers produced between July 2002 and December 2005 and GE Monogram dishwashers produced between January 2004 and December 2006 are affected.
We’ll keep you up to speed with the latest appliance recalls which, fingers crossed, hopefully won’t happen for a while. Nevertheless, if you have any questions, feel free to comment below. Again, we at AJ Madison cannot process your recall requests, but our AJ Community team (including myself) are able to answer any questions pertaining to these recent developments.
